Scholarship Awards

Education is the key to self-actualisation, and the cornerstone of MYET activities is the award of scholarships to beneficiaries in tertiary institutions to support the payment of tuition fees. Candidates for the awards are nominated by local community leaders across the 3 States. Nominees are then evaluated by a panel, taking account of the individual financial and social circumstances of nominees, who then make recommendations for the scholarship awards to MYET Trustees for endorsement. Priority is given to orphans in the provision of awards.

We commenced provision of scholarships in 2022 and have run two grant cycles. At present, we have about 40 scholars at various stages of schooling, with the numbers increasing yearly. We aim to double the number of scholars every two years and these targets are reviewed annually to match identified needs with available funding. Scholars who have completed education are encouraged to join the group as sponsors and mentors.

Mentorship Scheme

We have developed a mentorship scheme aimed at providing guidance and encouragement to MYET scholarship beneficiaries and alumni, but also other Masihiyawa youth in tertiary education and early career. Our goal is to establish a pool of reputable and committed mentors and role models from diverse professional backgrounds and different life experiences and match them with mentees. The overarching objective of the scheme is to foster the development of strong personal and professional networks, and in so doing improve the cohesion and resilience of the Masihiyawa community.

Community Enterprise

We plan to, in the future, establish a scheme to promote socio-economic development through facilitation of access to small loans to support Masihiyawa owned small/medium businesses and community enterprises.
